A Year of Connection and Community - Thank You, DEN Members
As we wrap up 2025, we want to take a moment to look back on everything we’ve built and accomplished together through the Dementia Empowerment Network. It has been a year filled with meaningful moments across all of our groups.
Here are a few highlights from this past year:
*Our members spoke at conferences and community events, sharing their lived experiences with the public and helping others understand what empowerment, dignity, and inclusion look like in practice.
*We hosted our first in-person DEN Gathering in March, with a St. Patrick’s Day theme, bringing members from every group together for an afternoon of connection and fun.
*We launched our new DEN website, giving members and the community an easier way to learn about our groups and access resources.
*We created new resource videos featuring members sharing their insights for anyone interested in starting a dementia empowerment group of their own.

*We developed printable tools, such as posters and post-cards to support new and existing groups across the region.

*We completed our final evaluation, gathering stories and feedback to help us understand the impact of our groups and guide the next phase of our work.
*We released our 2025 Impact Report, which highlights the success of the DEN, the difference our members are making in their communities, and the power of peer-led spaces. (The report is attached to this email.)
*We secured new funding to help support the creation of future groups, allowing more people living with dementia and care partners opportunities for connection, leadership, and belonging.
*And we’re growing! Early in the new year, we will be hiring a new Outreach Coordinator to support members and help us expand our work with Indigenous individuals living with dementia.
As we head into the holiday season, we want to say a heartfelt thank you. Your leadership, honesty, humor, and care for one another are what makes the Dementia Empowerment Network what it is. Every conversation, every meeting, every shared story helps build a community where people living with dementia feel seen, valued, and empowered.
We look forward to continuing this work together in 2026, and to welcoming new members and new opportunities along the way.
Wishing each of you a warm, restful, and joyful holiday season.
